"i never let anyone read any of my poems"
it's in the way i crawl out of bed to write some probably stupid line down that i'll never even use. it's in the way you say ‘i got it,' when i'm trying to put your cigarettes back in your pocket. it's in the way you tangle my hair almost immediately when we get in the car and ride off into the night. it's the way i finish your ginger ale; the way the stale leaves crackle when we're barefoot in the backyard. it's in the way you say 'i like you.'
within the sincerity and the stillness of your kitchen when i make us coffee and you wrap your arms around me- how i feel instantly impenetrable, infinitely inspired; and maybe still kinda tired. it's in the way that we agreed that we shouldn't even think about the future; how time is an illusion, and how maybe I’m not stupid. it's in the way we were laughing while brushing our teeth and connecting through the local punk scene and adoring each other's whistles, and how you’re better at it.
